bank indonesia will soon issue new regulations on e - money after testing the branchless banking in eight provinces with five banks and three telecom operators. pilot project implemented since may ends november 2013 will support financial inclusion and less cash society .

branchless banking pilot project is devoted to payment services with the advanced telecommunications infrastructure that had already been grabbing market users. but withdrawl must go throught an agent appointed by selective and stricly by the banks involved in this project.
bank indonesia its self noted, the current telecommunications infrastructure coverage has reached 95% and supported 240 million mobile phone users, as well as two million agents telecom retailer . while the paument instrument in the form of electronic money based servers, the number had reached 12.5 million. while in the banking system,
bank indonesia estimates that 52 % of households in indonesia does not have deposits in financial institutions.

branchless banking regulation will be issued by bank indonesia in late 2013 and began to implemented by 2014 . with the availability of the latest legal umbrella , the player in the telecomincations and banking industry has no need to hesitate anymore to work together . impact, e-money business opportunities also becoming wide open.

bank indonesia believes the use of electronic money within the next few years will grow significantly. with e-money micropayment transactions 
under usd 5 million . although small nominal , transactions through electronic money in 2013, this amounted to rp 6.7 billion per day , or nearly $ 2 trillion a year.



can be seen, the number grow significantly over time . e-money transaction in 2009 there were 48 thousand times worth rp 1,4 billion per day in 2010 rose to 73 thousand transactions with a value of  RP 1,9 billion. in 2011, the transaction again increased to 112 thousand transactions with a value of  RP 2,7 billion. in 2012, there were 219 thousand transactions worth RP 3,9 billion.each year, an e-money transactions grew 120% .
